Two very different editions of this book. This one features actual humans!
Lovely and colorful.

Here's another sweet tale of an alternative guinea pig family that has been banned/challenged from some libraries. The book is beautifully illustrated but needs a little bit more in the plot with regards to the guinea pig marriage if this book is to be about teaching young children it's ok to be in a family with same sex couples since it seems to be lacking some emphasis. Otherwise this is a cute, simple story.

Mixed feelings here. I found the storyline to be a little bit of a rip off of another book published earlier Uncle Peter's Amazing Chinese Wedding. It is also a bit strange to see the whole story be about guinea pigs. Why not real people? I am happy to see diversity, but it is not my favorite. Much preferred In Our Mothers'House.

I loved that the focus of this book wasn’t on Uncle Bobby marrying a man, but on Chloe’s anxiety about losing her uncle once he gets married. It was really sweet and I love how it naturally spoke about queerness.

I hadn't heard of this one. It doesn't seem to be all that well known. Really if it hadn't been banned, I probably would never have heard of it. Which is too bad. Because it's got nice art and distinctive characters with personalities and they look distinctive. And it would be a good picture book for your kid when a favorite relative is getting married.

Oom Tijs gaat trouwen.
