A couple funny anecdotes sprinkled into a surprisingly deep narrative of personal regret and nostalgia, bookended by truly bitter recollections of the misparenting that may have ended up causing Paul's regretful behavior in the first place. Newman has obviously spent long hours contemplating his actions and circumstances, both in pride and shame.
