Love Lost Can Always Be Found

Penelope Ward has this way of writing stories that have moments: ones that make you laugh, cry, sigh, and cheer. The Day He Came Back is no different. It has a hero who is divine as he loves his heroine beyond himself. I love those types of heroes because they only have eyes for one. Gavin is that type. And Raven's love for Gavin is transcendent. Even though it is hard to read at times because you want Gavin and Raven's happily ever after so much, it really does have a pay off in the end. The Day He Came Back has it all: a complex love relationship, horrible villain, angst for days, and a beautiful resolution. Loved every moment of it.

Penelope Ward once again delivers a story that had me totally enraptured from the moment I started it.  I loved the relationship between Gavin and Raven, both in the past and current, and how despite how things went 10 years ago they couldn't fight their feelings.  I was cheering for them from the very beginning.

While I loved Gavin and Raven's story, there were a few characters that I wished we got a little more back story on.  I would have loved to learn more about the relationship between Gavin's dad and Raven's mom.  His dad seemed to love her, more than just a friend, but that was never addressed.  Maybe that's was one of the reason's Gavin's mom was the way she was.  Would have been interesting to find out.

A great second chance romance that was hard to put down.  It was full of angst, laughter and ended in the most perfect way for this couple.

This book has left me emotionally drained and spent.

I’m a sucker for a good second chance romance and this book didn’t disappoint. Ward brought all the feels with this story. I LOVED Gavin and Raven and my heart ached so hard for them as I read. They had so many obstacles in their way and I just wanted everything to work out for them in the end. I’ve been a long time reader of Penelope Ward and her writing is always on point. Ward manages to take a trope that has been done before and it gives a distinctive touch and creates a book that will stay with you for a long time.

Audio Review:
I listened to the audio version of this story as well and the narrators knocked it out of the park. I feel like I say that for every book they work on but its true. This book was on the heavier side and you could feel the raw emotions from them as they performed certain scenes. York and Arndt really took this audiobook to the next level and I highly recommend listening to this audiobook.

I actually listed to the audio version of this book and loved it. I usually hate audio books so I knew that if I had read it, the story would easily get five stars, if not more.

Another day, another Penelope Ward book.
Unfortunately I didn't like this one as much as the previous two books from her that I read.
I'm not sure if it's the rich family element, if it's the fact that Gavin and Raven's story felt so quick when they were younger. They hang out only a few times for me to be rooting for them. It felt more like Gavin only liked Raven because she wasn't blond and rich. It's a cliché that didn't work that well for me.

But I did enjoy the second part of the book a lot more, when they are older. I think the harder topics in here were well handled. I liked that Weldon evolved from the person he was in the beginning.

This one didn't live to the hype (that I myself created), but I've loved her other works I read, so I can't wait to pick up something else from Penelpe Ward.

3 stars.

A second chance romance between a couple who barely had a first chance. She was from the wrong side of the tracks and their relationship was strictly forbidden. Of course that didn't stop them. After a heart breaking end to them, they are reunited after a decade apart. But is it too late to make amends? Do they even want to? These characters are great. Both are kindhearted and charming. Selfless, too selfless at times. There are some side characters that you will loath, others who bring some comic relief, and others yet who you will adore. It's a sweet story with some hardships. There's a little bit of angst. Some happy moments and some emotionally draining moments. It's a well told/written story that is hard to put down. Alternates between POVs. There is just a small amount of sexual content.

Such a great romance!
This book was everything.
My heart swooned soo hard reading this book.
Gavin & Raven sucked me into their romantic journey.
There was love, heartache, intense moments that had me emotionally loving these two characters.
Told in dual point of views, this book brought light to both characters and gave the right amount of development to the story.
Such a wonderful second chance romance to read.
