I heard about this manga online, and thought it sounded like a fun, cozy fantasy read.
“The Girl From the Other Side” follows a little girl and a beast who have found themselves living together. In the Outside, the beasts roam the lands, and with one touch their curse can be passed on to the next person. People live in fear of this curse, and have exiled anyone or anything in the Outside. The girl and the beast live harmoniously now, but how long can their peace really go uninterrupted?
I absolutely adored this story! The artwork was beautiful, and the story had such a beautiful deeper meaning. I loved how the little girl was not scared or judgmental of the beast, because these traits are things that children learn from adults. She loved him, because he took good care of her. Additionally, the beast is simply a misunderstood creature. He has such a pure heart, and is doing his best to care for a little girl. I really enjoyed seeing their dynamic together.
The end of this volume is a huge cliffhanger, and I am so excited to pick up the next volume and see what happens next!

I'm so glad my sister recommended this to me and that it was readily available at the library. I loved it! I read it in about one or two sittings and immediately wanted to read the next book in the series. I have to wait, but once I get my chance, I'm taking it!
I love how the book blends cute-wholesomeness with darkness. The two main characters are great, both in art style and personality, and the beginning of the plot has me eager to keep reading. I hope the next book is as good as the first!
