This was good, overall. I enjoy thrillers by this author, so this one did not disappoint. The chapters ar fast-moving with narrator switches, lots of character build up, and a plot that keeps the reader guessing. Until about 3/4 of the way. There a few ovbious hints dropped. However, I gave this one a solid four stars and recommend to those who appreciate a domestic thriller!

After checking out #Libby I decided to look into #Hoopla as well, I was pretty excited to see such a large variety of audiobooks available. I checked out, just the nicest couple, as I’ve heard great things on IG. I try not to let Goodreads reviews sway opinion, though the ratings for this one are r promising. I decided to give it a try, and this one was just not for me.

This is a dual perspective book following the POV of Nina and Christian, outlining their stories and that of their significant others. We find out Nina’s husband Jake is missing immediately and that sets the premise for the whole book-trying to cover up his disappearance, along with his wife trying to find him. I waited for the twists and thrills during the entire book but even when one was revealed, it was expected, and there was no shock value. I pushed through to finish only for the sake of now much time I’d already invested, but based on the feedback I have heard, this was a very disappointing introduction to this author.

Loved this thriller! I couldn’t put it down. This book is full of surprises and cliff hangers that made it hard to stop reading. The ending was somewhat shocking, some parts were predictable, but for the most part it was a classic thriller with exciting twists and turns. I’m surprised by some of the bad reviews, but to each their own! This is the first book I’ve read by Mary Kubica and I’m excited to read more of her books.

This was a solid four-star thriller — nothing fancy or particularly special, just a fairly well written mystery with a well-executed twist.

At times, the author relies too heavily on tropes (the neurosurgeon who spends all his time at work, the invasive mother in law) and flattens certain characters (who even are Nina and Christian?) while straining credulity (why did anyone try to cover anything up in the first place? Just go to the police!).

Nevertheless, this was a quick read that kept me guessing til the end. Four stars.

Interesting how quickly the couple turns on their so called “friends”. Honestly, I was just waiting for this one to be over. I wanted to give it a good chance because I’ve enjoyed Mary’s other books but it just didn’t hit. I figured out what had happened, for the most part, pretty early on. Two couples, who are close friends, and one of the husbands goes missing.

I enjoyed this book but it was on the slower side and predictable—at least until the last 3% of the book.
