These two, I think I have a soft spot for men that are gruff and angry and turn in to big teddy bears. Wyatt is pissed, he in a funk and its not been light since his divorce. He wanted a family, he wanted kids and dogs and he wanted all of that with Cassandra. So he thought, until they divorced and now he wants nothing to do with women at all. Enter Calliope, Cassie's little sister, he's attracted to her but he doesn't want to be, shes just a kid and his ex- sister-in-law. That makes it all wrong right?

Calliope has been in lust with Wyatt since he walked in to her house when she was fifteen. Now she's all grown up and wants things to be more with Wyatt. She wants him and having him close by working on her daycare is just the amount of closeness she needs to get him to notice that shes not a little girl anymore.

Great story, it was easy to read. No angst really, little bumps along the way mostly from a man being stubborn. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Wyatt fight the good fight that was doomed really from the moment he felt his attraction to Calliope. Now get to read Brody's story. Youngest Kent brother. I can't wait.

Likeable characters, no real challenge to read. Quite predictable.

Classic Harlequin-esque romance -- I actually enjoyed how forthright and confident Calliope was. I had her pegged in a certain character stereotype, and she surprised me at every turn. Wyatt had his good moments, though I'm not a huge fan of the taciturn and grumpy guy in general. My major issue with the book was the ending -- it felt HUGELY rushed and just read very fast for me (particularly the Cassandra/Wyatt resolution). And then it was just bam bam bam, ending. So it lost me there. Ah well.

I enjoy reading Ms. Burton’s stories - she writes spicy contemporary romances with well-developed relationships that build at a good pace. But I couldn’t get past the “ish” factor of the underlying plot of this novella to truly enjoy it

Calliope needs a contractor to build an addition on her day care center. Her former brother-in-law and his family are the only “honest” contractors in town, and Wyatt, the former BIL is the only one available for the job. It doesn’t hurt that he’s hot, which Calliope has always noticed. Yes, that’s right she has the hots for the guy who used to be married to her older sister Cassandra. Ms. Burton handles this situation with skill. As the story unfolds, it’s clear that Cassandra and Wyatt were ill matched. {spoiler ahead} And Calliope arranges a detente between the two so that she and Wyatt can have a real relationship and the entire family can be happy. All aspects well done, but still - ewwww! All I could think of was that line from Sex Ed class that when you sleep with someone, you’re sleeping with all their previous partner. Ick, ick. Seriously - couldn’t you have made it Calliope’s best friend, instead of her sister?
Oh well. If you can get beyond that, you might really enjoy this story.

On a side note, I’m curious if Ms. Burton chose the character names in a nod to the familial theme in the story, a theme that may stem from the myths of ancient Greece. Calliope was a muse. Cassandra was the tragic twin of Hellen of Troy.

Torn on how to rate this - so going with the average - 3 out of 5 on my romance scale.

Unrequited love that is finally returned.

Calliope has had a crush on Wyatt ever since her sister brought him home to meet their parents, but he has always been off limits. Now the two are long divorced and Calliope is determined to help Wyatt get over his bitterness over their difficult divorce.

There are obstacles and taboo of a relationship between them, but her persistence and the love they come to feel for one another help overcome them and bright their long awaited happily ever after.

Next comes Brody's story in [b:The Best Thing|15717005|The Best Thing (Kent Brothers, #3)|Jaci Burton|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347553922s/15717005.jpg|21387517].
