Really cute. Fairy tale plot with a unique twist. The familiar with the unexpected mesh together well.

I love this! It is a perfect little fairy tale with delightful illustrations that are deceptively detailed and invite repeated exploration. Tom Gauld has really nailed the classic fairy tale vibe but with a wonderful modern twist.

Edit: Read this at bedtime with my 8 year old and she immediately requested to read it again. Instant fave! We spent a lot of time discussing which of the Robot and the Princess's other adventures we would like to read about. (I'm quite intrigued by the giant blackbird and my daughter is partial to the haunted well and mischievous pixies.)
