Definitely starts off slow but I ended the book really loving Digory and Polly and I’m really excited to read the rest of the series. Also really recommend the audiobook, Kenneth Branagh just has an amazing voice.

As someone who already has knowledge of the world of Narnia, this book was a good starting point to discover how that works came to be. I really enjoyed reading about that and seeing the connection between this book and the events that take place in The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

My 6 year old enjoyed seeing how it connects with the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe which his teacher read to his class. Wonderful story, "the first story and the beginning of all the rest."
