Lived every moment i was reading the book.  The middle part of it was slow paced but loved the overall plot, and vibe

Its a beautiful children’s book that i would’ve ate it up as a child for sure. Because as an adult i still think this little story is heart-wrenchingly cute, and surprisingly unique, a story involving something of a fairytale staple like witches and moon magic. It still reads like a children’s fantasy, but its themes are again, quite unexpectedly deep. It will and can make you cry or tear up, atleast it did for me whenever Xan was involved in anyway. (especially,
the ending)
It can hit you all in the right ways if you’re in the mood for it.

Also my only qualm about this book would be that we didn’t get to see
Luna and her mom interact all that much after they met. There are two heartfelt moments and they’re really cute and make me shed a tear or two but i think i would’ve loved to see them bond a little bit more because i didn’t want her to be called a madwoman for so long.

It's so easy, the madwoman wanted to tell them. Just go mad. Madness and magic are linked, after all. Or I think they are.
Every day the world shuffles and bends. Every day I find something shiny in the rubble. Shiny paper. Shiny truth. Shiny magic.
Shiny, shiny, shiny. She was, she knew sadly, quite mad. She might never be healed.

For anyone looking for a cozy fairytale, with loveable characters , please read this wonderful story. It reads so fast and its absolutely adorable ♥️

What a delightful read. I found it captivating and enthralling without being overwhelming. It is on the slower side, though that does not dull the adventure. A large portion of this book is spent building up the cast of characters, weaving plotlines which ultimately all intersect. Barnhill did an excellent job of planting seeds in the beginning of the story which we as readers have the joy of seeing bloom. Even as a children's book, I found myself deeply and emotionally invested.

This book was incredibly sweet, charming, and even made me tear up a little bit at the end! It was a fun little story with the wonder and silliness I've come to expect from children's books. However, I just felt like there was something missing from this book, I'm not sure what that is but it didn't feel complete.

I was also let down by the characters in this book, everyone, including Xan and Luna, felt like caricatures rather than rounded people. This always happens to some extent in children's lit, particularly with adult characters, and it's not a deal breaker for me to enjoy the book. However, there was a lot lacking from all of the characters, especially as I've recently finished Nevermoor (which is similarly praised) with it's fascinating protagonists that have more nuance.

Saying this I do get why people love this book - it's so full of love, hope, and beautiful messages about the importance of loving families in all shapes and sizes (including a monster and very tiny enormous dragon!) It's a lovely story with a charming magical world that I had a wonderful time exploring.

Super bueno me encantó la historia , solo que me puse muy triste por la muerte de Xan ya que yo quería verla enseñarle a Luna y que estuvieran juntas pero además de eso me encanto
