I ate this book up. It was a sweet, Hallmark-esque novel with a cosy atmosphere and well-paced plot.
Overall, I adore Jenny Colgan’s novels for the protagonists’ journeys of self-discovery. I love reading about women find themselves in small, quiet, cosy places and simple lives.
My biggest gripe with Colgan’s novels is that the protagonists almost always fall in love with the love interest immediately (instantaneous sparks and fireworks) after very recently going through a breakup. I would love to see the protagonists spend more time with themselves and friends before jumping into the next relationship.

I want to love Jenny Colgan books but this is the second one that just fell flat for me. The beginning of the book was adorable, and I fell in love with the idea of the bakery, the beekeeper, and the pet puffin, but towards the middle of the story, it seemed like the author got in a hurry to move the plot along and skipped huge chunks of time (skipping character development in the rush as well). Disappointing ending, after such a cute start.

This was a cute read, but was pretty slow. It just didn't meet the expe tations I had for it. Romance was 💖 to 💖💖.
