I can see why people really love this book and I so wanted to be one of those people. Alas, it was not a good match for me.

After the death of her aunt, Clementine is (more or less) living on autopilot. More importantly, she's trying to keep her aunt's memory alive by living by her philosophy. One of the biggest rules? Never fall in love... with anyone in her apartment. Clementine has since inherited this apartment, and finally, she starts to understand when she discovers a man seven years in the past living there as well.

Again, I wanted to love this book. I love the concept, there are some beautiful sentiments scattered throughout the book, it touches on themes of grief... but all of this got lost in often bubbly writing, a shocking amount of cliched prose, and a time warp that is never actually explained. I didn't find Clementine and Iwan had a lot of chemistry. Their relationship got buried in the incessant conversation about food. I'm gathering from other reviews that this might just be a thing for some people, which is fine, but it didn't make for a riveting read for me personally.

If this hadn't been a romance, I feel as though I could have looked past my preferences on writing style and food niche. I would have loved to have read more about Clementine and Analea. I felt this dynamic was the strongest.

The Seven Year Slip was a nice read. The strongest point of the book is the writing, easy to read and able to touch on some very deep and emotional subjects without becoming too heavy. The characters were well-written and pleasant plot companions.
The story itself was interesting but lacked surprises at times. Every plot twist was heavily hinted at in advance, rendering them less of a plot twist and more of a plot point. The story is very internal, and deeply linked to the main character's feelings and emotions.
All in all, if you are looking for a page-turner, wishing to be on your toes the entire time, this might not be the book for you. If, however, you enjoy simple love stories and reflective main characters navigating hard life decisions, this is it.

I loved this book. It was one of those books that sucked me right in, and I was glad to be on an airplane where I could really immerse myself and read it in one go. I haven't read much Ashley Poston - I read her short story in the Valentine's Day collection, With Any Luck, which I really enjoyed - but I've heard such good things about all of her books, and I'm glad I finally got to one of them. I found Clementine endearing and the visuals really popped, and I appreciated the message about how people change over time and we can't always assume life won't have its effect on someone. That's inarticulate, but something about the two versions of Iwan was really touching to me. Seven years really can be a long time, and I found it so joyous when Clementine and Iwan found each other again and when they realized what they were really passionate about. I'll definitely be reading more of Ashley's books!

Was in het begin een beetje confused over hoe het appartement werkt, maar alles wordt gaander weg het verhaal duidelijk. Heel mooi, cute en heb weer lekker kunnen huilen, yay!

I don't know how to explain what I feel about this book.
I feel like I knew I would enjoy it but I didn't know how much I would *love* it. There's a lot of things that resonated a lot with me, and just how the character's lives are so intertwined not just by the magic in the apartment made me so so happy and so excited to keep reading and keep learning about both of these characters.

I would absolutely *love* if this was a dual pov book but it also made it so much more enticing to not be able to know what he was thinking, we only had her thoughts and her figuring out the story as things went along and that probably is for the best in telling such an amazing story.
