Claiming the Evil Dead pulled me in from the beginning and didn't let go. It's well-written, and the characters are developed and interesting. While this is a PNR, I also found suspense, intrigue, and lots of plot twists. I felt as confused as Jessie while she's figuring out whom she can trust. The only fault that I can find is with some of the over the top details. Some descriptions got a bit wordy, but that didn't take away from the story for me, and it was a quite enjoyable read. I can't wait to see what happens next.

Jessie is a half demon with an ability to capture souls. After attending a paranormal investigation with her friends, they hit the bar for some wind down drinks. A stranger sits next to Jessie, not saying a word to her, but buying her a drink and leaving her with a message to meet him the following morning. After offering her a job, Jessie finds herself accepting and on her way to Chicago with this strange, alluring man, to hunt down a big bad vampire who has a penchant for children. What could go wrong?

So I received this from an email, and I realised that it's just a sneak peek, kind of like a sample as it only contained the first three chapters. Because of the length of the sample, I didn't get a good gauge of much of anything. From the small amount that I did get to read, the writing seemed promising and the characters seems interesting and as though they would continue to develop further down the track. The story intrigued me as well, I'd put this as an urban fantasy from what I read. I'm pretty sure that I'll continue with it, with hopefully a full review to follow.

I really enjoyed this first book in the series. It was a quick read with an engaging storyline. The world building is good, and the storyline very cohesive. Two things I don't get. The main character has an instantaneous dislike/distrust of vampires that just wasn't explained well enough for me. And it's labelled erotic paranormal, but I didn't think it was any more sexually explicit than most urban fantasy or paranormal romance these days. Maybe it's just to mark it as not young adult?
