The final story is a tough read, not for the faint-hearted.

Winner of the 2021 Ockham New Zealand Book Award. ‘Bug Week’ by Akron Beautrais is a fascinating collection of short stories that explores the human condition and more specifically relationships. The stories are weird, whacky and confronting, a smorgasbord of stories that reminded me of George Saunders. I’ve always been interested in this book prize, novels that don’t seem to be talked about as much in the Australian markets, but Beautrais has certainly created a quality book that will be enjoyed by all audiences.

Variety of different short stories, not all of them work for me; but the ones that hit; really are impactful
