Objectively, 3.75 stars.
Personally, 2.5 stars. Just kidding, that's quite harsh. 3.75 stars is fair enough.
Having briefly read the author's biography, the book is a likely reflection of some of the thoughts and experiences that the author went through.
The story is all very human. Unfortunately human. So human that I dislike Lilia, and obviously Roland. Prior to the diary entries, I didn't mind Lilia. However, as her thoughts rolled out (pun unintended?), my dislike of her grew more and more. I began to feel sorry for everyone else, for Hetty, for Katherine, for Lucy.
And to be quite honest, it's quite difficult to take Lilia seriouslybecause she's still vying for the same man she slept with when she was 16, whilst he was 35 YEARS OLD. PLEASE. .
It's worth a read, even for the aesthetic, for the cover of the book. It's worth getting annoyed, getting angry, frustrated. It's worth reading for a feeling, an unsatisfied feeling.

I think I will finish this book at some point but right now, I did not exactly connect with the writing style or story. I do have to say that I really like Lilia and Lucy and her daughter and her daughter but, Roland was just a weird and boring storyline for me so, even if I don’t finish this I will likely not forget the story of Lucy.
Minor: Suicidal thoughts, Suicide, and Suicide attempt

I found this book difficult to fully get into and invest in all of the characters. Which is an incredible shame as the book was so beautifully written especially the way it deals with grief. It was an interesting concept of Lilia telling her life story whilst writing her own and re reading her ex lovers. So we get the tale of both Roland and Lilia even though they were such a small part of each others it led to Lucy and the sad story of her committing suicide. The real story for Roland was the love triangle between Sidelle and Hetty which is annotated by Lilia to give a different perspective. I wish we did focus more on Lilia's family and what happened to Gilbert and her further two marriages after he died and they did too.
