It's been awhile since a main character wanted me to claw my own eyes out. I'm proud of myself for actually finishing this.

going into this book i knew the main character would be childish. Her childish-ness is due to the fact that she is super sheltered and always taken care of so it didnt bother me cause it fit the narrative of she needed some growing up.

a lot of the relationship development happened off screen which i hate. if im reading a romance book i want to see the falling in love part. despite that it was cute but not a fav.

as for the asexual rep im not ace so i cant speak on that. also it is my first book about an ace character.

This story is funny at times, as Alice and her cohort figure out what’s next in their young adult lives.  Growth and Changeparental pressures, play their parts.

Felt a little too young/immature for me. Just not right time to read, wasn’t in the mood for college and crushes.

It was okay. There was a lot of swinging between “I love Alice and Takumi and their relationship” to “This is too cute and it’s making me unironically uncomfortable.” Feenie and Ryan struck me as not good friends and I just couldn’t wrap my head around Alice wanting to be friends with them. Overall cute most of the time but intertwined with lots of weird and unrealistic situations and dialogue.

9/25 for #hubchallenge2019

Just....disappointing? Can't put my finger on what I didn't like about it, but this just wasn't great and was a real slog to finish. It's definitely a 5/5 for someone else, just not me.

Love getting to read about a biromantic asexual character who knows herself and is happy and loved, really love getting to purchase this for the library and put it in the hands of a student or two, hopefully.

Maybe I shouldn't be reading two YA contemporary romances at the same time, I kept comparing this to the other one I'm reading and enjoying so much more.

4.5* Let's Talk About Love made my heart squee. It gave me all of the happy, fuzzy feelings. With it's wonderful exploration of asexuality, witty dialogue, loveable characters and addictive relationships, I couldn't recommend it more highly.
I absolutely adored Alice and Takumi and there are passages I'm sure I could read one hundred times over and never get bored. I LOVED the fact that this focused on an older teen/young adult and the fact that she didn't have her life 100% put together and sorted it, it was very refreshing. Another refreshing element was that although the friendship dynamics were brilliant, they weren't perfect but It also wasn't all drama. It was real and flawed and lovely. I also thought having a main character who was asexual, biromantic and black, all explicitly stated on the page, (as apposed to simply being eluded to) was wonderful. The discussion of Alice's relationship with her family was also great to read.
All in all, this was wonderful. Plus, any character that has a t.v addiction on the same level as my own is always going to make me happy. The world needs more books like this.

This book was not it for me. I was looking forward to adding a copy of this to my classroom library or recommending it to others, but this was not it. The writing style, combined with the main character's very cutesy and immature voice was not engaging, nor relatable. She seemed more around middle-grade/12 - 13 years old as opposed to a 19/20 year old in college. This was concerning as well given that the love interest (Takumi) is a college graduate, and demonstrates similar moments of immaturity, and a lack of understanding of consent. Not for me, would not recommend. At the same time, I respect that the book exists, so I did not want to give it one star.
