Disclosure: I received this as an ARC from Netgalley

My Summary:

This was a classic David Vs. Goliath type match up between a small community and a barbaric and vicious dictator bent on taking as much power as possible. Unlike David though the hero in this story is a beaten down samurai who has years of battle experience. Plus add some incredible technology - quite a lot of the bad guys aren't even human but robots!

Artwork:

I really enjoyed the artwork in this especially how the character Superfecta Five is drawn. She's part robot and part human and the combination makes her impossible figure much more practical and believable. Finally a skinny waist that makes sense! Beyond that though things that needed to be a bit gross really seemed that way - like the green clones were fairly disgusting. As an added benefit if you like tall, dark, handsome.. tattoo's - the main character meets all of these spot on!

Review:

I really enjoyed this not because it was a brand new type of story line but more because it felt like a fresh take on a story that's been told for many generations. I don't think I'll ever get tired of reading about the underdog triumphing over evil and saving the day. I think the only thing that I didn't like is how incredibly fast everything seemed to happen but I've noticed most graphic novels tend to be this way. As a complete newbie to this genre I'm still adjusting to the very different writing style that is graphic novels and anime.
