Lizzie and Rake’s weekend fling turns long term when Lizzie finds out she is pregnant. What could go wrong when two people who just met want to raise a baby together? I can answer with hilarious episodes! This book is between clean romance and full out steamy romance so be aware going in. A lot of romantic tension is present in the book and it comes out in very funny scenes. I loved the book because it was lighthearted and delightful to read. It took me away from everything else and made me laugh for a few hours. Excellent book!!!

✨ Review ✨ Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings; Narrated by Summer Morton; Will Peters

CW: lots of talk around pregnancy, abortion, and decisions about women's bodies

Lizzie, a whirlwind of ADHD energy, swirls through the pages of these books with loads of jokes, mishaps, and all-around chaos. After her two-night stand with Rake, a visiting Aussie, results in a pregnancy, she's left to try to assess her life and try to get things in order before she becomes a parent.

I enjoyed reading this book but it also stressed me out a bit too as Lizzie flies through the pages. I appreciated how the book provided representation for ADHD and the struggles women face with stigmatization and receiving care. This book made me laugh while it made me grapple with my feelings!

A truly chaotic Philadelphia love story. I loved every second of the wild rollercoaster that was Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake. Full of friendship, neurodiversity, Philly, love and erotic pastries - this book is a true gem while being heartwarming and hilarious. 10/10 recommend!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the complimentary copy in exchange for my honest review.

For a little bit, I felt bad for giving this a two star rating since I knew I hated pregnancy tropes before going into it. But even that aside, the book wasn't great.

The main character is very annoying and childish- and I'm not saying that because she has ADHD. I'm saying that because she is very annoying and childish

The spice was. Full stop. End of. The spice was bad

And then last, but not least, this solidified that I hate the pregnancy trope. I'm glad I gave it a shot but I will learn from this experience to not do that again.

CAN I GIVE IT  MORE THAN 5 STARS?!!

Mazey Eddings makes no mistakes when it comes to her writing (pun intended). Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake is one of my top tier romances I've read, I am obsessed with the entire A Brush with Love series.

To the point, where I begged (and succeeded) to get Mazey to come to my book club!

The way that each character in this series is so reltable, real, vulernable, and honest?! It's everything. Mazey herself is neurodivergent, so in each of her books she adds in neurodivergent characters that are so compelling and deep. The books contain so much humor, I don't know if I have ever laughed out loud this much reading a romance novel.

One thing I will say with this book in particular - it contains a certain trope that I do not love ... but Mazey made me not hate it. Her writing is so good, that she can make any trope work, I swear. (Read the synopsis if you want to know, but I'll keep it spoiler free here)

*Gifted by Netgalley & St. Martin's Griffin - thank you! All opinions are my own.

The classic awkward romcom filled with some of your favorite tropes but with beautifully weaved details explaining what it's like to have ADHD in a neurotypical world. Some things are unbelievable, like the perfect Australian man moving across the world for you, but I still enjoyed watching Lizzie figure her shit out

It was a cute read even if the story was slightly unrealistic at times. I also felt like Lizzie unfortunately had every single negative characteristic of ADHD without any of the positive ones at the beginning of the book though it was better by the end when she finally seemed to learn tactics to deal with it. And Rake is the best even though he was complicit in the third act screw up that plagues romcom stories.
