This was an intersting book. At first I thought it was going to be cheesy, kids that have wings? After reading a few pages which ends up being several 1 to 2 page chapters I got into the book. It was an easy read with lots of stopping points so I was able to relax and read it instead of obsessively read it. The characters are good and you can't tell who is good and who isn't. I will read the rest of the series and because they are in paperback I won't have to take a loan out to read them all.

The book has ADHD. Seriously it is all over the place. The chapters are 2-2 1/2 pages long, which would be fine if they didn't jump back and forth, to and fro between the six characters. Just when you think they are heading down the plot line, they zag and suddenly you are off on a tangent.

Then there is the writing. I understand that it is written for a 4th grade reading level. Fine, but get out the thesaurus Mr. Patterson. Your average 4th grade teacher would fail you on your present word choice.

Finally could we be a little more creative in the novel planning or maybe a little less unbelievably creative in the solutions to every action packed crisis? For instance as the main character falls off a cliff, isn't it lucky that SHE CAN FLY? Oh and they need a fast get away, so isn't it lucky that the keys to the van they hotwired suddenly drop into her lap. Everything is just so lucky all novel long.

I hated this book. Sorry dear daughter who suggested it. I wanted to like it for you and give it several stars. I can't, and I can't read another one in the series and risk death by total aggrievation.

This book was ok. Kind of interesting premise, and I liked how each chapter was short and left off with suspense to keep me reading, because if it hadn't I might not have finished the book so fast. I know this is a series and all, but I don't think it really needs to be. There were a lot of "fluff" scenes in the book that could have been replaced by scenes central to the plot of the entire series, thus eliminating the need for book 2, 3, etc. Oh wait, then the author and publishing house couldn't become rich off of people's need for books that are like mediocre blockbusters...

I have so, so many thoughts. Check back in for a link to a Nostalgia Myalgia episode on them.

I’m actually surprised at how much I didn’t like this book. Maybe because it was recommended to me multiple times with people saying “you’ll love it”. I feel like almost nothing happened the whole book. And I’m a fan of shorter chapters, but only having them last 3 pages each is too short for me.
