This book was incredible. Seriously on par with Divine Rivals and should be talked about so much more than it is!
This story takes place in a fantastical world with some Greek myth influences. Evadne and her sister Halcyon haven't seen each other in 8 years, but finally Halcyon is set to return home. However, Halcyon turns up, on the run from a heinous crime that that she maintains was an accident. This death is wrapped up in secrets having to do with a mission to save the kingdom, but Halcyon cannot admit the truth behind the death. However, Eva volunteers to take part of Halcyon's sentence, knowing there is more to the story. Evadne's sentence is serving the commander whom Halcyon had previously served under. Meanwhile, Halcyon is slaving away in a prison. Soon though, the sister come to realize that there are things worse than dying.
Y'all this book is the perfect blend of magic, sisterly relationships, and romance for me. I'll be honest, if you're a huge fantasy reader who loves really drawn out worlds, this may not be for you. But as someone who is just getting back into fantasy, I loved it. The romance was great and added a depth to the story that I really appreciated. However, it's the depiction of the bond between the sisters that really made this book special. It seriously was so great and should be recognized as much as Divine Rivals!
