It took me a bit to get into this book, the characters have since big things happen before we're really attached to them

That being said, once it kicked up it picked up and I found myself speeding to the end, as with Ross' other work.

I am having a really hard time writing this review, and I don’t know if it is because over my life I have just become extremely judgmental/critical about how books are written or what, but I didn’t love this book yet I couldn’t put it down.

I did think the book did move fast; there is so much world building to explore in this book. I want to know more about the Commander, more about the history of the land, more about class hierarchy, and more about the movtivations of the villains. I have so many questions and it doesn’t seem like there will ever be any answers. I don’t want to air all of my grievances so I don’t spoil the book for anyone.

I did like the the story and relationships throughout the book. I was invested in the plot and how the sisters would grow as more of the story was revealed. I think the dramatic twists in the end made sense for the book. The loss wasn’t out of nowhere and you knew a loss was coming, nothing was really just for shock value. This book is definitely where my headspace is at, I just want to consume fantasy fiction books, so I do think my future books will consist mostly of this genre. For right now I am going to get through my TBR pile to justify buying more books.

I think this book is good for people who want a good flowing fiction book to escape into; nothing too difficult to read and keeps your attention.
