I enjoyed the relationship between the two sisters, and what happened, though I definitely thought there was going to be more intrigue and/or revenge for what happened to Halcyon at the start. I cried near the end.

I did think the book did move fast; there is so much world building to explore in this book. I want to know more about the Commander, more about the history of the land, more about class hierarchy, and more about the movtivations of the villains. I have so many questions and it doesn’t seem like there will ever be any answers. I don’t want to air all of my grievances so I don’t spoil the book for anyone.
I did like the the story and relationships throughout the book. I was invested in the plot and how the sisters would grow as more of the story was revealed. I think the dramatic twists in the end made sense for the book. The loss wasn’t out of nowhere and you knew a loss was coming, nothing was really just for shock value. This book is definitely where my headspace is at, I just want to consume fantasy fiction books, so I do think my future books will consist mostly of this genre. For right now I am going to get through my TBR pile to justify buying more books.
I think this book is good for people who want a good flowing fiction book to escape into; nothing too difficult to read and keeps your attention.
Moderate: Gore and War
