What a harrowing and compelling novel. Beautifully written and bawled my eyes out. It makes me sad reading that ending too, knowing that the Taliban is back in control. My heart goes out to the people of Afghanistan.

Heartbreakingly beautiful. Even though it takes a lot for me to cry, I was moved to tears by Mariam's suffering and Laila's misery. Great, deep characters and an enthralling writing style.
Rating- 4.5/5 stars!

I'm from Lebanon. I've always heard about Khaled Hosseini and more specifically this novel. I bought the book a year ago but never got around to reading. Until now maybe it's because of what's happening in Lebanon right now or something else.
But these past few days I have inhaled this book. Unbelievable writing, incredibly emotional and heartbreaking.
Truly depicting the atrocities endured by the afghan people and more so the women. Khaled Hosseini has this incredible talent of truly making you feel every emotion he tries to illicit from you.
Sublime book!

This is my second read for this book, and I love it even more than the first time. Khaled Hosseini has a way of writing prose that makes your heart ache.
