I believed a certain something would happen but it didn't.
This was a fairly good read I guess...

The opressiveness of the Saywells' life is quite something to behold and yet it is treated as nothing too remarkable or out of the ordinary. That of itself is horrifying. Lucille and Yvette are stuck in Papplewick, after a bit of freedom during school, trying to have a jolly time until their inevitable (?) marriage to someone or another. But equally they and the other youngsters don't have all that much to rebel against as they are all bound in the conventionality of society. They are all waiting to be done unto rather than taking action themselves. There are different sorts of freedoms and entrapments on offer here and much that cannot be said outloud. I can't help but feel like She-who-was-Cynthia did the right thing by getting the hell out of there.

Bilingual copy again so this was translated by Hana Skoumalová.

A tender tale told with lightness-of-touch; embrace passion, live free.

Very enjoyable read. I loved the way the author describe the Gipsy and the Grandmother.

If I had read this on my own I wouldn't have come up with the erotic analysis my Dr discussed in class .

I advice a Bible after this book
