Aside from the frequent blatant racism this is a well-crafted quick read. Some parts were predictable but for the most part it was a genuine mystery that kept me guessing, and even in the warmth of daylight I felt myself getting a bit creeped out by the events of the story, which surprisingly were not as melodramatic as I'd anticipated. This passage conveys how perfectly British this tale is:

There was a cheerful rattle and clink of china. Normality returned. Tea! Blessed ordinary everyday afternoon tea!

I think after witnessing the murder of a few housemates normality would only return in the form of afternoon tea for the British.

It was very good - but I wasn't really satisfied with the ending. It felt like the perp came out of nowhere - there were few real hints towards anyone and even fewer towards the one who actually did it.
