Solid historical mystery. Very enjoyable.

This Edwardian LGBT pulp fiction turned out to be entertaining and full of suspense! A dastardly plan, pretty nasty villains, a couple of unlikely heroes showing true courage and resourcefulness, and there you have it. Fun :O)

Despite my general dislike of historical fiction, I really enjoyed reading this one. I loved Daniel's sharp wit, self-assurance, and waspish tongue. Once the plot got moving, it kept me hooked until the end. I look forward to reading the eventual sequel.

Side note: Now that I know the context, I love the title!

I really enjoyed this one. The characters were extremely well constructed. I found myself just totally in love with Curtis, and de Silva's personality was so colorful and interesting to read about. The chemistry between them was also fantastic. I'm not usually a reader of historical fiction, but I really enjoyed the narration/voice, which seemed totally in sync with the time period as far as I know. I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I found it hard to get to the end after about the 85% mark. I was pretty disinterested in the intricacies of the plot and much more interested in the relationship between the two main characters. So I'd say the plot was a little weak. All in all, though, I'd definitely recommend this to lovers of M/M erotic romance.
