Another super cute swoony romcom by Meghan Quinn! This was the perfect introduction to the cute small town of Port Snow. I've never wanted to visit a fictional small town so badly! Such loveable characters.

What was suppose to be a night of fun and celebrating the youngest of the Knightly men turned out with all the brothers getting cursed by some random old woman who they didn’t believe in her “mystical forces”. Well looks like Griffin ended up believing in the curse after all… after a heartbreaking loss.

Fast forward two years later, the story continued with Griffin going about his day to day life in Port Snow running the family business, Lobster Landing, still a volunteer firefighter, and trying to live as best as he could after losing his wife. As always, I love a small town setting, and yes there were plenty of townspeople in Port Snow that were noisy and gossiped about any and everything. Especially when the new girl in town, Ren Winters arrived, it wasn’t just a small introduction, it was the kind that led to Griffin meeting Ren in an unexpected way. Ren wanted to start fresh, so she moved to Snow Port as the newest algebra teacher and when she found herself swerving off the road to avoid a moose, she ended up stuck between two trees, and needed help. Safe to say, Griffin literally came to the rescue and from there Ren met Griffin and he happened to also be her new neighbor. With the small town trope, lighthearted humor that Meghan always executes to perfection, and of course swoon worthy romance, Griffin and Ren’s story was lots of fun to read!

Ren and Griffin had an interesting first meeting, but after Griffin rescued her from her moose/ car incident, it was all charm and delightful vibes between them. I also liked that Ren and Griffin were neighbors so there was that close proximity they had to one another. Slowly but surely with Ren and Griffin spending time together and talking, they each started to develop an attraction and attachment to one another. Although, from Griffin’s perspective, he was still hesitant to get back out into the dating world, especially with his fear of potentially losing another person in his life. Meanwhile, Ren settled in perfectly in Port Snow, and loved spending time with Griffin, and couldn’t help but be mesmerized by his kindness and overall warmhearted nature.

Just when I’ve found another book I loved by Meghan Quinn, BOOM! SURPRISE! I read another book by Meghan and fall in love. This was an anticipated read for me since it was among one of the many books I had yet to read by Meghan, and I can’t believe it took me this long to read! Again, I LOVE small town tropes, and with the lighthearted humor and close knit community in Port Snow, I mean come on, of course I fell in love with this book, and it’s characters. Griffin and Ren were so sweet together and I found it endearing how they were totally crushing one each other, but trying to act nonchalant about it when they were together. Not to mention, the rest of the Knightly brothers had me intrigued and going, “WHERE CAN I FIND THESE MEN?! HUH??” Oh that’s right, I gotta find a small town, and fingers crossed I can find the same man just like Ren did. (Sigh) alas, this was just a story, but a girl can hope and dream of finding a manly, dreamy, charming man like Griffin or honestly any of the Knightly brothers. Ren wasn’t joking, the genetics in the Knightly family were incredible! WOO!

There were some pretty laugh out loud moments throughout the story so you could imagine I always laughing a lot while reading. This was such a lighthearted and enjoyable story that whenever the Knightly brothers came into a scene whether it was one of them or all, it was a guarantee I was smiling or laughing depending on the situation. Most often than not, I couldn’t get over how lovable and loving each of the Knightly were and of course Ren as well. I’m sure if you read this book, you’ll not only fall in love with the characters, but wish that Port Snow was a real place that you could visit.

The build up between Ren and Griffin was sweet and endearing. In my opinion, I would classify Ren and Griffin under a slow burn romance since majority of the story focused on them and their budding friendship which quickly turned into them both having feelings for each other. Griffin was still at odds on whether he should or shouldn’t pursue Ren due to his fears of something happening to her just like Claire, but at some point he had to move past his grief, and give love another chance, an opportunity to find joy again and be with Ren. I liked seeing how at ease and friendly Ren and Griffin were with one another, and of course I loved seeing when Griffin got protective over Ren awww.

Overall, Ren and Griffin were a blast to read about. From all the humor, lovable characters, the hilarious gossiping happening at all times in town, to the picturesque atmosphere in Port Snow, to the swoon worthy romance between Ren and Griffin, I loved it all. Griffin definitely had to overcome his own inner battle and grief, especially when he blamed himself for Claire’s passing. Griffin had no power of Claire dying, and with his belief in the curse, I stood by everyone else in that he was kind of being an idiot, but thankfully he managed to redeem himself in the end. I found Ren’s ability to move past all that she had experienced from her multiple accidents to still enjoying her life to the fullest was inspiring. I found the rest of the Knightly brothers hilarious, and I’m excited to read the rest of the series. The epilogue definitely gave more wholesome romance between Ren and Griffin, but also hinted at the next book with Rogan and apparently a former flame of his. Onto the next book! Happy reading!

Too many and too in depth descriptions. The number of times shiplap is mentioned is annoying. It gets to the point where the mmc and the mfc each described the same room/place during their POV chapters.

Kind of immature. Mfc has had three concussions in a year, which can be really serious. But they’re more like convenient plot devices, like on tv when someone is knocked unconscious for the exact right amount of time and wakes up perfectly okay. And then Griffin credits Ren with “setting him free” from his grief over the loss of his wife, but in the beginning of the book he described how he’d gotten to the other side of his grief. It’s over the top dramatic.

The ending is literally a plug for the next book. A really anticlimactic HFN.

TW/CW: death of a spouse in the first 15 pages. Occurs off page, but the phone call alerting Griffin occurs on page, then it skips two years.

What a fun small town romance! I really enjoyed to progression of Griffin and Ren’s relationship from friends to lovers. I loved the dynamics between Griffin and his siblings. Would recommend for a quick fun read!
