this is just incredible. it shows a personal perspective of china's history, and jung chang writes it so well. i felt sad and angry at the tragedy that follows her family, but it also gives hope that things can and will change. idk i highly recommend

Amazing read for anyone curious about China in the 20th century. It’s a hard read, emotionally, but this book genuinely changed my life and the way I looked at and learned about other cultures and nationalities.
