Cute, and interesting way to build the life story of this person. I found the writing direct, but the small slow build up also helped to create an atmosphere around the book. I enjoyed it.

An engaging, light, thoughtful slice-of-USSR-life book. Is it a novel or autobiography? Dunno. But I liked Dovlatov's way of describing things and would like to read more from him. This is really more of a short-story collection, and there were definitely some stories that were more interesting than others.

This collection of short stories recalls Dovlatov's life in the Soviet Union through items he brought to the US when he left. It is a charming book, although there are points where it becomes less funny and more sad. Still, definitely worth reading.

ნუ არ ვიცი, 3.5. "კომპრომისი" უფრო მომეწონა. ბაზარი არაა - აქაც ისეთივე კარგი და რაღაცნაირი მოშავო, ლოთური, მშვიდი და სევდიანი ანტისაბჭოთა იუმორია, მაგრამ "კომპრომისში" პროტესტი უფრო აქტიურია, იყო ბრძოლაც - აქ კიდე თითქოს ხო მიაღწია ადამიანმა თავისას ერთის მხრივ და მოხია ამერიკაში, მაგრამ თითქოს ამას დანებებასავით აღიქვამს. ისტორიებიც ძირითადად ამ განწყობითაა - სასოწარკვეთილი, უიმედო და ბევრი სევდიანი იუმორით... აი ამ წამს მივხვდი რატო ვერ დავამუღამე დოვლატოვი ისე ძალიან - მგონი გოდერძი ჩოხელი ადრე იმდენი ვიკითხე რო სევდის ლიტერატურული რესურსი ამოწურული მაქვს და უბრალოდ აღარ მესმის :) ამასთან კიდე საკუთარი თავის გარდა (რომელიც მთავარ როლშია მაინც) სევდა კიდევ სამი მთავარი პერსონაჟიდან ერთ-ერთია. მესამეა საბჭოთა კავშირი.

თუმცა, დოვლატოვი რა თქმა უნდა ძალიან საინტერესო ხედვის ჟურნალისტ-მწერალ-დისიდენტია და კარგია ერთმნიშვნელოვნად.

P.S. მეოთხე მთავარი პერსონაჟი, რა თქმა უნდა ალკოჰოლია. არა, ზოგადად ალკოჰოლი კიარა, იმინა ვოდკა! :)
