First two halves were exceptional but then it got way too dark too quickly. I think it was supposed to be two stories since the ending was a little rushed. I absolutely adored the first two halves though !

This book accomplishes so much in its compact form. It is beautifully written, somehow discussing both the cultural climate of South Africa and a struggle with faith and belief.
There are some of the most beautiful lines about disbelief and questioning God that I have ever read. It is an eloquent and compelling novel.
