piper put up with wayyyy too much throughout the time span of this book. from her brother basically putting a ban on her and then their friends extending it and enforcing it just as much as him, to only being known as "marcus' sister" to EVERYTHING lucas put her through. my girl really should've had shauna give them ALL the business. i think she forgave lucas too easily, like yeah, you've been in love with him since you were seven, but c'mon girl, you're not kids anymore. after all he meant to you, regardless of his intentions and why he did what he did, YOU LOST YOUR BROTHER! he lost his best friend and all of you were grieving, but he was FOUL, on so many levels for what he did, or rather what he didn't do. his first instinct was to leave rather than stand by you and be there for you when you needed it.

and for marcus to throw it back in lucas' face about how he sleeps with women and then just dumps them when he does the EXACT SAME THING was so lowdown. his first instinct, instead of hearing him out since they're best friends, was to hit him. i get him being protective of his sister, but dude you knew the BOTH of you trusted lucas. being upset about being blind-sighted about it aside, she couldn't have picked anyone better. she had your best friend, someone you know would never hurt her after all he's done for her.

i really feel like the whole Grief Anonymous thing was made out to be less of a deal than what it was. like that was something that meant a lot to her from all the stuff she shared and the trust and bond she built with Anon13 after losing not only her brother, but lucas also. and for piper to brush it off just because lucas' intentions were in the right place....no. why he did it shouldn't have trumped how you felt. none of the ways piper dealt with what she was feeling or experienced felt fair to me. it was like lucas pursuing her and finally wanting her trumped everything, including how she felt and i didn't like that.

like girl i know you love him but STAND UP

i will say, because no one is perfect, i did love lucas. however, RIVER WAS MY MAN IN THIS BOOK <3 like idc if he's not one of the mc's in this story, when his story comes out I'M ALL OVER IT. but yeah, jax being the sensible one in this story really threw me off because seeing how carefree and flirtatious he was to being the one to talk sense into lucas was WILD. like if jax is telling you to check yourself that's how you know you've fucked up MAJOR.

i love my woman and their huskies though <3

This one was so much better than the first book. I loved the characters. I felt bad for Lucas and Piper's after Marcus'. I did feel the way Lucas reacted and handled things weren't the best. But I understand where he was coming from. I just wanted him and Piper to be together the whole time. Especially due to the fact they were already together in the first book and they're such a sweet couple. But I did enjoy seeing how they came to be together.

I also loved seeing how Marcus' death truly affected everyone. It was sad yes, but I felt like I understood Lucas, Piper, and Jax more after reading this book.

The ending was so cute as well. I loved getting Lucas and Piper's pov of their engagement that was in the previous book. It was so sweet and they really are so perfect together. Even though their path to each other was rough. I was rooting for them the whole time.

So overall this was a very entertaining read. I'd for sure recommend this one. I'm excited to get into the third book (the one I've been the most excited for) and finally get River, Alex, and Mia's story.

What an amazing journey about navigating grief and joy when they end up tangled up together.
Lucas is so imperfectly perfect and while there are times you want to reach in and smack him you can't help but feel sad for him with the situation he's in.
Wilder uses and Lucas and Pipers story show how every journey with grief is different but it shouldn't stop you from living your life. So much more than a spicy book, Rules of the Game will leave you satisfied in more ways than one.
