This was (as expected) such a hard read. I've had this book sitting beside my bed for nearly three years now, but was never able to get through more than a couple of chapters. It's beautifully written but such a difficult subject matter to sink into. I listened to Chanel read her story as an audiobook, which really made her words come to life and (for me) made it easier to get through the book. I'm so glad I persisted - Chanel's frustration and re-traumatisation at the hands of the justice system so mirrors what I have seen myself as both a support person and professional going through the justice system with victim-survivors. I'd recommend this to absolutely everyone!

Chanel Miller accomplished the incredible by helping me, a woman who has experienced a typical share of objectification, harassment, and coercion, understand the gravity of sexual violence in a way I didn’t realize even I needed. Alongside that, she taught me so much about the innumerable micro-failures of our criminal justice system. Thank you Chanel!
