 CAN I JUST SAY... AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH.
New obsession unlocked.

5/5 ⭐

THIS BOOK. THIS. BOOK. OMG. Honestly I first read it because of the cover (which is gorgeous) and I went in blind, only knowing it was fantasy with romance. I was not expecting to completely fall in love with this story and its characters. From the very start I was hooked and couldn't put it down.

Our FMC Reva is a badass and I want to be her. I loved following her story and ALL of her interactions were amazing. THE SIDE CHARACTERS!?!?! I live for that. Found family was exquisite in this book. Also the writing was beautiful and fully transported me into the book.

The ending left me needing to know what will happen and very curious about certain things 👀👀

Love you all and happy reading 💋💋

Quick blurb: Darkness is Rising. Reva, orphaned and raised by a powerful Magic, has lived her entire life in hiding because the world dislikes/fears those with magic. Everything changes for her when a knight named Finley arrives. Reva is told by her guardian to go and help the royal family’s youngest prince with a mysterious illness. At the castle, Reva grows close to the knight, the ill prince, and the scholarly princess. Something dark is brewing, and Reva and her new friends must figure out how to defeat the darkness before it destroys the world. The world building was easy and fun. I enjoyed the unique magic system presented and cannot wait to learn more in the next book. The mystery surrounding who Reva’s true parents are is intriguing and I love how she is learning along the way.

Characters: I loved the sassy and sarcastic Reva. She’s got sass and wit but also struggles with anxiety and commitment. I love how independent she is and how she won’t take any crap from anyone. She is also fierce in that she will protect the ones she loves without a second thought. Love her and I cannot wait to see her character growth in book two from reluctant hero to total b@d@ss!

Fin is our cinnamon roll MMC. He is kind and compassionate and he is totally lovable BUT he needs to stand up to adversaries and protect the ones he cares for. I am SO curious how his character will evolve in book two.

I absolutely LOVED and completely related to Princess Eloise (Elly) and her love for research and books. I love how she is always in the library and can stand up for what is right. I also adore Prince Clint. I love his positive attitude and how he stuck up for Reva against the bad knights.
Y’all…. Prince Tariq. We ONLY get a teaser about him, but I am already TEAM TARIQ from just the last two pages of book one. Just saying. FIRE

I am so excited for book two. Katie keeps posting book two teaser! Not fair! Lol Book two will have even more tropes like possible love triangle, pet names, hidden powers, spice, found family… and more! I need book two ASAP!

Thank you so much to the author for an ARC of this book!

4.5 ⭐️

From start to finish this book had me enthralled. The prologue peaked my curiosity instantly and the ending definitely had me wishing I could set it down and pick up book 2 immediately.

So many of the characters we follow are so loveable, from the sassy FMC and the sweetheart MMC to all the side characters. I cannot wait to learn more about all of them, ESPECIALLY the final chapter appearance.

I loved seeing all the details come together, definitely a series to add to your TBR!

I can’t wait for the next book! This was a great introduction to the series, and the author has created a compelling story! I can’t wait to find out more about Reva, and watch as her power and relationships grow! I love her sassiness and her sense of humour (Clint is my favourite though)

This book feels like it needs to be longer. We only started getting answers at the end of the book, and I feel like more could have happened to create a more dramatic ending. However, the abrupt ending has created enough intrigue to get me excited for the next book.

The relationships also feel a little cliche for me personally, and I feel like they developed rather quickly, not giving us any time to connect with them as we watch their relationships form. But I do like all of the characters, and am excited to see how the new characters introduced at the end of the book fit in with the ‘club’.

Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I’m really looking forward to the next book.

i was lucky enough to read an arc of this book & I really enjoyed this book, it was easy to read, the world building was good, and it kept me entertained! I absolutely loved Reva’s relationship with the royals. I love the relationships between all of characters most especially Reva & Clint. I hope we get more of the king & the queen in book 2, they seem like good people. I’m so excited for the next book! I still have so many questions i need answered!
