One Fine Day was such a clever book! I found it to be both funny and sweet. It was extremely engaging, and it had its own charm.
My Thoughts...
- I adored Stuart/Steve. My heart broke for him early on. He seemed like such a decent bloke. When his ex stepped all over his heart the way she did, it was quite something. His little adventure to see his sister was good for him. Not only did he get to meet an adorable group of friends, he also got to spend time with Lydia.
- Lydia was intriguing. One minute she seemed to be so candy sweet and in the next minute she seemed all hot and bothered about Stuart. The sketch pad, the Catwoman suit, the initial "petting and parking," it made for interesting reading. Fast forward, I completely understood her position about being lied to by the man she cared for.
- Ruby was such a survivor. On the one hand, she was tough as nails, but on the other hand, she was so hungry for a healthy love. I loved the affection she had for her brother, and I really liked how they supported each other. I loved watching her come out of her shell with her friends, especially Brett.
- Brett was such a knight-in-shining... (sigh). I adored how he was so protective of Ruby. He was a good guy who proved to be a surprise treat.
- Alice definitely changed her tune in the best kind of way. I did not care for her initially, but she grew on me. She impressed me with how she handled the Stuart/Steve situation.
- Terry was totally a giant arse. The author did a good job of making it plain that he was the scumbag in the story. I was waiting for someone to punch him in the face. Ha! He would have rightly deserved it.
- The talk show scene was gold! (Sniff, sniff)
- The reunion scene between Stuart/Steve and Lydia was sweet. I wanted the BIG moment, but perhaps that will be in the next book. The ending, though not what I expected, was satisfying in that I got a HEA (sort of).
