I mean come onnnn :) Anything a part of the Illuminae Files will instantly be a 5-star read. Although short, this gave me the romance and science fiction that I so desperately desired. 10/10 recommend if you want a little more taste from this series. Would recommend reading the Illuminae Files before reading this prequel novella!

Oh, I've missed this series! I need to get to Obsidio, like, right now! ❤️
Didn't actually believe a short story could be the same level with the main books

Memento
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I didn't even know this existed until I randomly discovered it on goodreads. I had to read it immediately, and let me tell you I've missed this series!
Ahh, this made my day, honestly. But to the novella itself: I'm mind-blown.

I finally got to read Memento! A momentous occasion indeed. I've been a massive fan of the Illuminae Files for years and I thought that I would have to sell my soul to read this novella that was released during the preorder campaign of Obsidio. I was so happy when it was announced that Memento would be released and I preordered it straight away. I was in a reading slump when it was published but I finally got around to reading it! I read it in one sitting and it made me really miss the series. I am planning on rereading the series soon because it is one of my favourite series of all time. It made me want to read more from this series. It also made me more interested in the Aurora Rising series. This novella brought up a lot of good memories that I had from this series.

The novella starts before Illuminae and follows Private 1st Class Olivia Kline on the United Terran Authority Battleship Alexander-78V. Her mission is working on the AI called AIDAN and it's behavioural algorithms. You see AIDAN before it is damaged and how it evolves into the entity we meet in Illuminae.

I would highly recommend this novella to the fans of the series. You even get to see a cameo from Ezra Mason! This novella reminded me why I loved this series so much and I can't wait to reread it to feel all those emotions again.

“I remember you telling me when I was younger that a man without a library is a man without romance in his soul.”
― Amie Kaufman, Memento

This book was fine but not really needed in the series.
