These characters mean the world to me and this story is so deeply personal to me it’s hard for me to find the words to adequately review this. While this story is not without it’s flaws and at times outdated conversations, I am in love with it

2.5 I enjoyed this book more with a better narrator (I listed to the sleepy bookshelf version) but I still find it true that majority of the book is lost on me. Older Anne is more palatable but of course that’s not most of the book.
My favorite parts are probably the flowery bits of writing in between everything else.

I could not have been more bored while reading this book. I couldn't find a plot, only a vaguely detailed account of a day in Mary Sue's Anne's life.
About 40 years ago, my grandmother bought this book for my mother because the cover picture of Anne looked like my mother as a child. Mom always told me she kept it on her shelf but never read it. She liked to look at the picture but didn't like to read at the time. Recently, she found Green Gables with the same cover in a dollar book bin, so she bought it for me.
A pretty quick read, but the contents made my eyes twitch uncontrollably at the cutesy fluff.

Such a great read following an eleven year old orphan, Anne Shirley, with a wild imagination and talkative spirit. It’s a coming of age story so we follow her through making friends and rivals and her family. There were so many themes that really can apply to today’s life.
It was so relatable and really pulls you into the fictional town Avonlea.
