It’s a good story I enjoyed, just felt like it was too long and wouldn’t end.

The writing was good, I'll give it that, but the book was a tedious and repetitive. Not recommended.

it's not often that i wish a book would be a series, but the ending of this book felt so abrupt and left me wanting more! louisa morgan has other witchy books that are on my tbr, but i don't think they're connected to this story. this was a historical, magical epic telling the story of a family of witches throughout time, and had lots of beautiful moments.

I'm torn on this one. I really loved certain parts—the beginning and the end, especially—but other parts were exceedingly frustrated. A few of the main characters were so unlikable (especially the third witch) and it often seemed like none of the new generations ever learned from the past ones. Honestly it seemed like none of them ever learned anything, which was ironic, considering their power as witches was rooted in their ancestry. This book was certainly strongest in the family bonds and connections, and I enjoyed that the most. Unfortunately I was also frustrated by the depiction of witchcraft, which was very "spout a random couplet and the things you want will happen." As a witch myself, it was... annoying, to say the least.

Still not a BAD read, though you might find yourself wanting to put it down somewhere around the second and third generation.

Started amazing but then every major plot turn centered around finding the man of their dreams in heteronormative perfect families because that is the only way their power could be passed and there is no way that stiff Elizabeth II could have been a witch.

This was an amazing book about family; especially mothers and daughters. For me, it had a good bit about the magic without over doing it or not eluding to it enough. I thought it tied up beautifully and left me with not wanting more.

Wonderful start to the autumn season I loved how every story was seamlessly led into it made the book so much easier to devour. The stories are so fluid and you really get to know each character and can attach yourself to them. The intensity of such a secret is so palpable I was clenching my teeth reading the more dangerous settings and sections.
