I watched the show based on this book and loved it, so I had to grab the book. There are so many differences between the two, there are whole plot lines in the show that don’t even exist in the book. And so many little details were changed, I’m sure there are reasons why the changes were made, but I loved Ray so much in the show and he hardly speaks in the book.

I enjoyed this book- it was an interesting concept and I was really excited to find out who would win the challenge. I also liked how the book shifted perspectives of the characters. However, I didn’t love the ending; it felt very anti-climactic and didn’t tie up plot lines like I wished it would. Overall it was a good, quick read that I mostly enjoyed and would recommend!

This was a re-read (albeit, I read it many years ago) and was still completely shocked by every twist and excited by every turn. Lauren Oliver has this amazing talent for writing believable teenagers using sophisticated language that really validates their experiences in a way that is much needed in the YA genre. This book is a wild ride that I have had such fun revisiting. No complaints.
