I absolutely love this trilogy and this book is amazing in its scope and its fusion of Japanese myths and yet there is something not right as in its more magical yet not. sorry if this makes it more confusing but thats how the book feels and the characters are amazingly portrayed in their subtle and clever ways. Basically this is a feudal fictional japan and its set on one of these islands as there are 13 the mainland is far away where the emperor is as he is basically a figure head not powerful enough. There are many players in this game of power, there are the clans or war lord families such as the Otori and the Arai these are the main families and then there is the Tribe who are basically a clan of assassins and spies and they have some magical talent which makes them useful for whichever war lord clan who wants to get rid of their enemy. without spoiling anything for anyone this trilogy is great with lots of passion, intrigue, murder and revenge this is great and it only gets better.

I absolutely inhaled this pseudo-historical fiction with light magical touches set in a reimagined feudal Japan. Easy and fun read that was hard to put down!

I wasn’t sure if I would like this one and I’ve put off reading it for months, but it was just lovely.

Sicuramente è un buon punto di partenza per i prossimi libri a venire, ma forse avrei apprezzato di più questa prima parte se solo gli eventi non fossero stati descritti così frettolosamente e i personaggi poco caratterizzati
