Man, is Hannah a fantastic hockey and romance writer. I loved seeing both the romantic side, but the realities and realism of the hockey world.

Maddox and Braxton were childhood sweethearts until decisions that Braxton and her dad made caused almost irreparable harm to Maddox's career in hockey and caused Braxton to move across the country. Years later, they meet again after some bad press results in Maddox needing to clear his image up with a PR relationship.

Maddox and Braxton are the definition of childhood soulmates. Even through the time separated, their connection remained buried within them, waiting for it's chance to come alive again. Even through the pain, there was no hate, only deep love. As Maddox and Braxton work through their history, their connection becomes deeper and deeper until their fake relationship becomes real. And the nugget that Hannah left for us in this book? Absolute perfection.

the story line was kind of unrealistic (spoiler: Maddox being a pro NHL playing virgin???) and then being good at sex??? lol but loved the body inclusivity tho

Five of the most twinkling stars for Miss Hannah Cowan and her writing. This book was one of my most anticipated reads of 2023 and it’s safe to say that it did not disappoint. It gave everything it was supposed to give and more. I was screaming, crying, throwing up, laughing, jumping up and down with excitement. It gave me all the feels, heart palpitations and all the butterflies, every thing wrapped up in this one awesome book. Childhood friends to strangers to lovers is one of my guilty pleasures and Hannah has done it SO SO right. I ATE this up. Read the whole thing in 2 sittings and it wasn’t 1 only because I had to sleep. Maddox and Braxton and their story is so beautifully portrayed, the angst and the frustration of separation of 8 years and then seeing the subtle ways they kept each other alive in their lives even after everything that went down had my heart. I loved every thing about this book and will recommend it to anyone and everyone. Please go read it, that’s all I’m gonna say because I think I found myself a new comfort read. You should 100% read this if you like the following tropes:

Maddox Hutton is living up to the Hutton name as a star hockey player in the NHL. His team is gearing up for the playoffs and his contract is up for renewal, so Maddox has to make sure he toes the line. When Maddox is called to help someone in need, he goes, but he ends up in hot water with his team. Luckily, his agent and team owner have a plan, but Maddox isn't too wild about it. Why? Because it involves Maddox fake dating his childhood best friend, Braxton Heights, who broke his heart eight years ago.

To say I'm obsessed with this book is an understatement. This is definitely going to be a top read this year. I'm completely in love with Maddox and Braxton. They stole my heart from the moment they reconnected. The angst between these two is SO good and will make your heart ache. If you like the push and pull between a couple, this is for you. It's clear they have so much love, respect and adoration for one another. They support each other's dreams, hopes, and want to spend all their time together. It was clear that they were each other's perfect match. I cried quite a few times from their different confessions to one another and from how romantic the story was. I want my own NHL boyfriend/husband now 😩

Maddox is his son's father in so many ways, but most importantly, the way that he loves Braxton. He saw how Oakley loves Ava and mirrored that love with Braxton. He's obsessed with everything about Braxton. He loves her brain, her beauty, the way she cares, and how much she loves others. I absolutely melted at how much he loved her body. As a plus size woman, I was a mess every time he told her she was beautiful and made it known how much he loved all of her body. If she ever doubted her body, he made sure he made it clear he's loved her since they were five and he will love her at any size. I loved how often he looked her up and down with fire in his eyes. He was down BAD for Braxton and worshipped her body. As he should, honestly 😌 The photo on his nightstand, the tattoo, and the scent were some of the most romantic things I've ever read. How Braxton didn't fold right away when they reconnected is beyond me 😂

I LOVE Braxton. She's one of my favorite heroines that Hannah has written. She reminded me of different parts of Ava, Gracie, and Scarlett. I loved her whit and banter. She's so strong and stood up for herself countless times. Braxton is head over heels in love with Maddox and would do anything for him, which was sweet. I felt connected to Braxton throughout the story and at one point I did ask myself if Hannah was writing me 😂 Braxton is the best. I'm also slightly jealous of her because she gets Maddox and is truly winning.

I have so many favorite scenes, but my two favorites are the first epilogue (although I loved the second one too) and the first time they have sex. I don't want to spoil their first time, but the revelation (I did predict it from some things that were said) made me cry because it was so sweet and romantic. Maddox made me melt and I simply fell in love with him in that scene. They were so connected with one another and so in love.

I can't wait for Cooper and Adalyn's story! I just know it's going to be good. Plus, Maddox is going to lose it and I can't wait to see that. I hope we get to see Cooper and Oakley talk about their kids falling in love 🥰  I'm also very excited for Noah and Tinsley's story. Something tells me it's going to be angsty and maybe break my heart a little, but it'll all be okay.

Thank you so much to the queen herself, Hannah, for the early copy in exchange for an honest review!

Gostei bastante desde livro! Mas eu adoro "friends to lovers"

Adorei a família do Maddox 🥰 quero imenso ler a história da irmã porque foi a personagem que mais gostei ahahah

O melhor de tudo neste livro foi não ter havido o típico e desnecessário third act breakup!
