The Cinderella story vibe was here from the beginning.
Ok things I loved: female characters were unforgivably bad ass. Fran was a hot mess in the best way. Evan was literally Prince Charming. It was funny. I gasped and dear god I wanted them to kiss so bad. The story was more about Fran finding herself rather than finding love. It was romcom esque BUT tried to be more realistic about really life. You can relationship jump, starting with infidelity is not a foundation, friendships (female especially) MATTER, family is important but it can be what you make not blood, and women are not defined by the men they love. So thank you Lindsey Kelk for letting me know my own worth as woman. <3
Okay now why it was 3.5/5 for me. I didn’t know this wasn’t going to be as romantic as I wanted going in. I’m not docking for that reason per say, but I do love romance in these books that are not alway realistic. I wanted so much more of the characters together! And I’m not even going to lie I wanted more spice which is entirely my own fault for not looking into.
Upon further decision this stays at 4/5 because it was exactly what it was supposed to be.
Thank you netgalley for this free arc in exchange for an honest review.

While there is a romcom element to the book, I didn't love it. It was cute, but it felt like it was just there as an element of the story and not a showstopper.
However, the relationship between Francesca and celebrity singer Juliette is just fabulous. It starts out with Francesca signing on as a personal assistant for a high profile celebrity; but soon she realizes that the celebrity everyone complains about is nothing like the monster they all described. I feel like this should be marketed more about the friendship and healing between the two women - I adored their dynamic and banter.
I was given a copy of this story to read; but thoughts and opinions are all my own. Thank you to Netgalley and Harper 360 for the chance to read this book!
