One of these days I'll take night classes just so I can write a full essay length paper so that someone will be compelled to read how much I adore this book. What Dev has done so well in both this book and the first is understand the characters so completely that the small changes to them or repurposing of the plot feels natural. Unlike with some adaptations that feel hampered by their source material or others that barely use it, the Rajes series encapsulates the essence of the original work while also being entirely their own thing.

The heroine in this story Ashna stole my heart. She's so strong and has no idea. Seeing her grow and learn throughout this novel was a joy. I'm so so glad that she has Rico. I loved the exploration of a very complicated relationship between Ashna and her mother. So many layers in this story.

Sweet delicious angst, a dreamboat of a male hero and phenomenal writing by Dev always.

If you're looking for a lighthearted romance this isn't it. The romance definitely was not the primary aspect of this book but I still enjoyed it! Definitely should have some tw notated at the start because it does discuss some heavy topics.

Some parts of the book are heartbreakingly good. A lot of the drama is fueled by people refusing to have conversations with each other, which is frustrating.
