This was a very sweet short novel. I loved the character building for both the main characters.
It took me a little bit to get into but after a few chapters I was hooked. I loved meeting all the different drag queens who are a part of THORR.
This story is an excellent YA novel for anyone but I really resonated with me as well as a lesbian who had a hard time coming out and how it affected friendships and family dynamics. This noble is a great representation of different family’s experiences and how being gay in a small town can affect you.
I love that Peter gets a chance to be a part of the show in drag as well and that it all comes together in a nice happy ending

This book is fantastic for queer representation but I struggled a bit with how the charictors are written. That being said there is alot of charictor development throughout the plot.

Maybe I read this at the wrong time, but it seemed like there was too much hate all around in the book. I couldn't move past Peter telling Brison that he should unalive himself. It all seemed like a lot of negatives early on in the book.

A book about teen drag queens?! Hell yeah! The description and the cover had me hyped but unfortunately, my expectations were not met. Mainly because I could not stand the main character. He was horrible. And yeah, I guess that’s the whole point of the story— he goes on this journey of self discovery— but he was insufferable for 90% of the book.

I loooved the drag show scenes and Aggie Culture. The secondary characters were all pretty awesome but there were a lot of them and it was hard for me to keep them separated in my head.

This is a queer story (obviously) and as for that, I can’t relate to some of the character’s experiences/thoughts. So is this an accurate description of a queer high school experience? Yeah, maybe. It probably is relatable to some people and I hope that group can find comfort in reading this.

(I had a copy of the eARC but didn’t read before the pub date so I borrowed the audio from my library) The narrator was good and had different voices for a bunch of characters. But there was one scene early on where there was a flashback and I had trouble recognizing that over audio. It was much more clear when I went back to that part in the print version.

I think I'd have less of an issue with this if it didn't feel like the author was taking an opportunity to throw around slurs every five minutes, and I know that to each their own and reclaimation but it got exhausting after a while. There's also a lot of weird body shaming that felt super uncomfortable, especially for the age group, and while I get that not everyone is comfortable or has dysphoria, it felt like Peter was so against himself the entire time. The one thing that hit for me was the humour, Peter and Alan are both funny and despite how hugely petty everything was they were an interesting friendship. This isn't one I'd really say I enjoyed, at the end of the day, and that might just be due to my personal relationship with queerness and dysphoria.
