These 10 women are the original girlbosses and you can’t convince me otherwise!!

I found myself constantly saying, “I support women's rights, but more importantly I support women's wrongs” throughout reading this, and I just don’t think there’s any better words that those to describe this reading process for me. Yes, some of the things these women did were bad (but also a lot of them didn’t even do anything bad!), but so were the things the men were doing!! And instead of villainizing the men of these myths, we make the women out to be the villains bc of, yep you guess it, deeply rooted misogyny!

At the end of the day though, I’m a Greek mythology girly and I am a defender of women, so this was obviously going to be a slay for me.

Natalie Haynes' unique ability to combine sarcastic humor and classical literature and mythology is unmatched in my opinion. She never ceases to deliver a worthwhile read.

LOVED this book. I’ve always loved Classics and myth, especially of the Greek variety. The writing is funny, familiar, and so easy to read. This book made me want to learn Greek, marry Euripides’ ghost, and become a Classicist who could one day write a book as good as this. The only criticism I have is that Haynes describes many works of art, mostly vase paintings, that I would love to have a picture of in the book! Sadly, they’re just cited, so I’ll have to go through and Google them to see what she’s describing. But other than that, this book was everything I wanted it to be and more.
