My feelings while reading this one was exactly how it was while ‘Beyond good and evil’, angry then surprise and then humility. Loved this one

I’ve read his other 4 books and enjoyed them, but I strongly advise not picking this one up if you haven’t got a chance to skim it in person before buying. His worst ego is distilled in this fantasy of himself as a sage bestowing wise aphorisms upon the masses. The title is the best part of the book, it’s downhill from there

"One of the problems with social networks is that it is getting harder and harder for others to complain about you behind your back."
Great read!

3.5 stars. Some of these are pretentious and self-serving. Some, I disagree with. Some are recycled. And some are quite good.

Still not my favorite of Taleb's but not sure why I rated so low on the first reading.

Go For It
Loved the book. Something that can be read in a single sitting. Among many quotes that I liked, this one is the best:
"You are free in inverse proportion to the number of people to whom you can’t say “fuck you.” But you are honorable in proportion to the number of people to whom you can say “fuck you” with impunity but don’t."

I like aphorisms and lists of quotes as much as the next person. I enjoyed these. Weirdly, I realize that I disagreed with half of them. This year of reading has made me less tolerant of generalizing, so I was like "whaaaaaat that's bogus" every so often. Still, a fun read.
