modern and fun Cinderella retelling

Super cute retelling of the classic Cinderella story - in a modern (and believable) setting. Plenty of sweet, with just enough heat, as well as humor and irony to keep it entertaining. Worth the read, and HEA. I'm looking forward to the next story in the series!

Cindy works for her families dry cleaning business and is constantly ordered around by her fame seeking stepmother and stepsisters. One day while working she is given an invite to a charity ball and decides to go to it. While there she runs into Tommy Prince who is immediately attracted to her and is one of Hollywood's hottest male stars. She and Tommy dance and get to know each other and later that night when she joins the group of girls to be auctioned off for a date she is purchased by none other than Tommy Prince himself.
The two of them have an amazing date but Tommy assumes Cindy is a socialite not a working class girl and Cindy tries to ghost him after the date but Tommy refuses to give up and goes looking for her when he meets her stepmother and stepsister they manipulate him into making it look like he is dating her stepsister and Tommy realizes why Cindy ghosted him in the first place. Tommy and Cindy go to Napa after sleeping together but things become complicated when Cindy's family starts a reality show that claims Tommy was seeing her stepsister but left her for Cindy who they are painting a manipulative villain.
With Tommy's career and Oscar win at stake Cindy walks away from him but Tommy doesn't want to lose Cindy and is soon confessing his love for her retiring to be with her. The two of them run off to Vegas and Tommy comes up with a plan that could potentially get Cindy's family to leave them alone forever. After their marriage the two are happy together and her families fame lies in Cindy's hands.

This book was okay, I didn't like that Cindy seemed to remain a doormat to the very end and I thought that the people in the book deserved way worse then what happened to them. Cindy was too nice and sweet in my opinion. Her stepmother and stepsisters were absolute villains and there were other manipulative characters such as Tommy's agent, his agent's assistant, the producer of the reality show and Cindy's former friend and co-worker. I felt like this book had a lot of people to dislike maybe even too many. I don't know if I should finish this series or DNF it. I think I will attempt to read the next book and hopefully the book after that.
