I really wanted to like this one. I had the whole series lined up and another by this author in preparation for a reading binge. However...I will be deleting these off my Kindle.

Admittedly the writing was pretty decent. It was the bad pacing and downright moronically stubborn heroine that made me not finish this one.

The hero Lothan was pretty likeable from what little I read. I was even a little intrigued by his family history and drama surrounding who got to be king. But...that's where is also got a little too wordy and dragged for me. I even skimmed some up until I finally quit. Which didn't bode well overall for the book.

The heroine Ada doesn't even deserve a mention tbh. She was stubborn for the sake of being stubborn. Didn't know when to chill and think on the fly. And while so dedicated to saving her sister still found the time to flick the bean during her bath and have a little kitty buffet brunch with the hero before she decides he's lying and playing her about being him being a king and she now being his queen.

Particularly the part of the story where they managed to insert a working translator for Ada where she can understand their language but to that point they (Lothan & his people) could not understand her because they didn't know her language and therefore couldn't download it was absolutely pointless and stupid. Ada, being the genius she is would respond in full sentences and paragraphs when spoken too and then think "oh yeah nobody can understand me!" And be frustrated by it...but like why not mime or be creative and get your answers across?? She didn't even nod to answer to my recollection. Like, wtf?

For me the pacing just didn't work. Ada calling herself a space slut and even ogling Lothan's hot alien dong from their first meeting was ridiculous and I just couldn't buy it.

So, this author will be a pass for me from now on.

A lot of world building which slowed the pace down a bit but overall a good set up for the next books!

## 📖 My Thoughts
The world was interesting and different from other things I've read. I struggled to finish this a bit, the characters could have just spoke a bit more. She was also a bit meh, she wasn't really strong or consistently caring or clever, just a bit demanding. I also didn't really get a strong character vibe from him. I can totally do insta-love but I am not a fan of it combined with miscommunication. I'm not sure if I'll read the next but the author has set the story up with lots to be discovered so I am curious.

## ⚠️ Triggers

## 🌶️ Spice
My fault for writing a review too long after I've read it but I genuinely don't remember the spice. I remember him being a big ol' alien. I also know there was a dubious sexual situation in the beginning for the FMC but he saved the day

Really loved this book! Does a great job of setting up the series without being too heavy-handed. Based on this book I'm definitely more excited for some books than others but excited to see where it goes.
