I've read 3 of her books now. They are basically all the same.

Another male lead who is not particularly likeable. The only thing that would compel the female lead to love him is the mystery of his character given how they meet, but once she knows him better he seems like a worse person, until his complete character reversal at the end - he changes from a typically misogynistic man of the time, to a modern liberal and understanding day of today + hero of the story, and it’s quite unbelievable.
The storyline is based initially on Cinderella, which is actually fine - it’s adapted with enough point of difference to feel fresh and interesting, however the choice of that option feels rather lazy.

I usually take notes while reading so most are very spoiler-y and commentary of what’s going on so I can look back and remember what happened.
  • The masquerade opening is so good! And the tension between them from the jump!!!
  • Two year time jump omg
  • The almost grape scene was anxiety inducing but my guy had to be the one to stop it!!!
  • Why in the hell does Benedict have a rock collection, but love it that he does paint in the books. Her seeing he painted a picture of her is 😍
  • Him saying ‘Kiss Me’ throughout the night - they better keep this in the show
  • The ‘under your nose’ troupe
  • End of chapter 11 and my guy is down baddddd LFG
  • Recreating the pond scene is a MUST for the next series.
  • Chapter 17 🗣️ LFGGGGG
  • Sophie working in the Bridgerton house is almost like playing house for what her life could be like with Benedict. 🥲🥲🥲
  • Benedict is a bit possessive at times and does a lot of voice raising.
  • It taking as long as it did for him to realize Sophie was the woman from the ball is insane. It only happening because she was wearing a blindfold with kids 🙄
  • Violet getting onto Benedict and Colin for not marrying is like finalyyyyyy
  • I now understand all of the “Violet loves a wallflower because she was” since they mention it a lot in this novel.
  • OMG The Penelope/Colin scene that is pivotal in their book actually happened here!!! It also being a conversation between brothers makes it a bit less evil/vile as compared to the show that was among other members of the ton.
  • Anthony showing his soft spot for Penelope when she walked her home after Colin’s cock up
  • In the back half of the book I like the brothers meeting up and having scenes. Colin fencing is cute.
  • The absolute drama of Sophie fleeing the Bridgeton home to then be thrown in jail. I hope they keep this in the show because it gets so many people in one place for a lot of declarations!
  • I wish we got a proper proposal scene, but I do like the jump to fiancé that Benedict makes while Sophie is behind bars. Imagining Luke Thompson putting his hands through the bar to hold Sophie’s face!!!
  • Lady Bridgerton taking in Posy is so wholesome.
  • The nod in the epilogue to revealing Lady Whistledown 😏
