3.5 stars - enthralling start, great set up in the middle, then bit of a strangely tidyup ending which felt a bit rushed?

The Prefect has something for everyone - political intrigue, detective mystery, sci-fi, ancient horrors. The writing is just about perfectly paced, and the characters are and dialogue are believable and relatable.

And after my second re-read, I can also say I'm very much looking forward to Elysium Fire!

The action doesn’t kick in until around chapter 21 which made it a tough read. Once you get to the action though it’s good.

It took me a little while to get into the book, as is the case with many of his books. Once I did, though, I really enjoyed the book. It's set some time in our future, around a planet called Yellowstone. It's a detective story, with a pretty healthy dose of well thought out scifi. It's also my introduction to the Tom Dreyfus character. I like this character, and I've already started reading the next in the series.

Now that was an awesome read. Probably the best book out of the "Relevation space" Universe.

A mystery, a puzzle and people learning who they are and who they can trust and who not.

Enjoyed this audiobook the second time and thought it was even better than the first time round.
