This is a hard one to rate. There's no way these kids are only 6 years old. Maybe something got messed up in translation and it was supposed to be 6th graders? Was there a point to this story beyond brutal stuff happening to children? The scenes are well written but there just didn't seem to be an overall point to this being written in the first place.

This has got to be one of the worst books I can remember reading in the last handful of years.
The plot, characters, writing style and tone all suck.

This book is grim. I was very invested pretty much the whole book, but I did find a bit of comedy in the whole thing as far as what happens to the majority of the children. I just felt like most of them died of an accident death and it lended the book, whether unintentionally or not, a sort of Tucker and Dale vs Evil charm that was a little too difficult to take seriously. All in all, I was entertained and I certainly did not feel like this book was a waste of my time BUT I also do not feel the need to revisit the story ever again.
