Um misto de 2.75 com 3, pq faltou alguma coisa entre eles. Queria que a tensão tivesse durado mais, não sei.

Loved it. So hot, so sweet, so easy to read.
This is a second-chance, friends-to-lovers story steeped in New York Latine culture. Childhood best friends Gabe and Michelle were inseparable until Gabe fled to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of becoming a physical therapist, leaving Michelle and his family with lots of questions and lots of hurt. They reunite for Romance Reasons and do it IMMEDIATELY. Which I loved because it was hot and because it felt right given their deep friendship and unfinished business.
Much of the book revolves around Gabe’s complicated life: broken family ties and a thorny situation he gets into with his business. I felt all this was really well done, and even if I do think he could have responded to Michelle’s texts at least once in the decade they were apart, I think Alexis Daria did a good job of rationalizing it.
I love the world she has built here and can’t wait for Ava’s story.
I also loved You Had Me at Hola but gave it four stars for the slightly clumsy parallel soap opera storyline. Here, the parallel storyline takes the form of fanfic Gabe and Michelle wrote when they were kids. It’s more successful than the soap opera one but I’m not sure it was necessary?
Never mind, I just loved the book and don’t feel like giving it less than five stars.

I enjoyed this but not as much as the first book in this series. This one felt more dramatic and less fun than You Had Me at Hola- which is fine, but not what I was expecting. The steamy bits were great, I loved their connection and their friendship, but I felt like there was some filler that could have been cut- just like the first book.
I thought that the tension between Gabe and his parents could have been explored more and so could have Michelle’s intimacy issues. Instead of us learning more about the actual details of both parties’ emotional baggage, it felt more like we were just reading the same info over and over but slightly different.
However, I will definitely read the next book in the series! I’m hoping that one will be a bit more fun and lighthearted like You Had Me at Hola was. :)
